Palm Jumeirah Penthouse
Luxury Oasis: Award-Winning Penthouse Blending Nature and London Luxury on Palm Jumeirah
This sublime penthouse on Palm Jumeirah, one of Dubai’s most recognizable luxury addresses, was recognized with two awards at the International Design and Architecture Awards in London in 2022 (Design et Al), winning both the Best Interior Design Scheme Global and Best Master Bedroom categories.
The 6,343-square-foot penthouse faces the ocean, with a long boardwalk running along the seafront below. The design takes a modern interpretation of nature, bringing the outside in while working within the practical remit of a family home. Soft colors, a wide range of textures, patterns, and striking materials bring visual comfort throughout, ensuring that every room has its own distinct character. The result is a home that carries the elegance of London and the ease of Dubai in equal measure.
Interior Highlights
Highlights of the scheme include the office, finished in Fromental Sakura wallpaper with icy-blue accents, and the master bedroom, which won Best Master Bedroom at the Design Et Al Awards in 2022. The bedroom is layered with a multitude of textures and carefully selected materials and fabrics, alongside a spectacular De Gournay wallpaper. The living room deserves equal attention: it combines the symmetry and considered detailing associated with London design with an uninterrupted sea view that could only be Dubai.
Designed for Family Life on Palm Jumeirah
Beyond the awards, this penthouse was designed first and foremost as a home. Every material and finish had to work as well for everyday family life as it does for entertaining, which is why comfort was never sacrificed for style. The cinema room, dining area, and living area were each planned as distinct settings within the same coherent story, giving the family a variety of moods and moments across the penthouse without ever losing a sense of continuity from room to room.
Materials Selected for Longevity and Light
Every surface in the penthouse was chosen with Dubai’s bright, coastal light in mind. Fabrics and wallcoverings were tested against direct sun exposure, finishes were selected for durability against salt air, and the overall palette was calibrated so the interior would feel just as considered at midday as it does at sunset. It is this kind of technical consideration, invisible to the eye but felt in how a home performs over time, that distinguishes bespoke interior design from purely decorative work.
An International Design Language
This project reflects the approach LUMI Interiors brings to every luxury residential interior design commission across our studios in Dubai, London, and Dallas: drawing on international design references while designing an interior that feels entirely personal to the family who lives there. It is this balance of global perspective and bespoke detail that earns recognition at award level and, more importantly, homes that our clients love living in every day.
